Editorial Reviews:

Amazon.com
When producer Joe Roth was named head of Walt Disney Studios in 1998, he was always cited as the first studio head who had also worked as a movie director. What no one ever seemed to mention is that Roth was a wholly mediocre moviemaker, as evidenced by this film and his other two titles (including Revenge of the Nerds 2). This formula comedy, set in the summer of 1963 (which, as everyone knows, was the summer before America lost its innocence with the Kennedy assassination), is about three brothers whose tyrannical father (Joseph Bologna) commands them to jointly drive a brand-new Cadillac from Detroit to Florida, where Dad will present it to their mom as a birthday present. And God help them if they get so much as a scratch on it. The brothers--an uptight control freak (Daniel Stern) and two variously goofy types (Arye Gross and Patrick Dempsey)--have never gotten along. You can see where this one's heading before the car even gets out of Michigan. --Marshall Fine

5 out of 5 stars One of the finest...   August 24, 2008
Ruby C. Gibbons (Alaska)
This movie is so wonderful. I loved it when it originally came out in the early 90's then redisovered it after my own father passed away. This movie should be released to DVD and for all of those who missed it I'm sad for you this movie has all the right punch; comedy, darkness, and drama. If you get the chance watch this movie you will be so glad you did.

5 out of 5 stars Watch it just for the "Louie-Louie" lyric argument.....classic   May 6, 2008
Tired (NYC)
There are so many scenes in this movie that are hysterical, including the scene where Patrick Dempsey's character gets busted by the dean of his school because his brother hung him out to dry, but the scene where the three brothers are arguing over the lyrics to Louie-Louie is one of a kind. Anyone who loves this movie (and it's absolutely one of my all time favorites) will get a grin by this one word...."wang on". Just the perfect family movie. Without being all gooey and sweet.

5 out of 5 stars "Editorial" Review??!!??   February 6, 2008
J. Oster (SoCal)
Who was the idiot that wrote the editorial? As someone so accurately already stated, EMBARRASING. This was an entertaining, smart and downright funny picture, that any male who has ever had brothers can tell you is spot-on. As the youngest of three brothers, I felt like I was watching a snapshot of my youth. So what if the story line is a tad predictable? There is a message here, and it's a good one.
Amazon, please reconsider the employment of the author of that "editorial" review.

5 out of 5 stars Coupe de Ville is simply a classic   November 6, 2007

I have two older brothers and when this movie came out I nearly launched in my shorts from the laughter. It's really well done, a must see unless your into movies that suck.

5 out of 5 stars DVD format please.............   August 7, 2007
karen (in Cary, IL)
I TOTALLY AGREE with the fans of this movie. It is a CLASSIC! This is the best movie ever. We SELDOMLY re-watch movies. This one the whole family loves, and we watch it over and over. We've worn out our VHS and need the DVD format. We show outside movies for our neighborhood, and this would be the perfect movie for all in attendance. We want to bring this movie to the attention of all of our friends, family, and neighbors ESPECIALLY if you are a Patrick Demsey lover. I saw this movie back in 1988 from a girlfriend's boyfriend who brought it over one night and fell in love with Patrick then. No one knew who he was really back then, and he is as lovable as an adolescent as he is a man. I have NO IDEA why Blockbuster doesn't even have it online?????!!!!! If you come from a family with brothers and parents of the "older generation" before the Baby Boomers, one cannot miss this movie. Even though there are some swear words, this movie will be enjoyed by the Grandparents all the way down to a four year old. Please AMAZON get a DVD format for as all to enjoy!
