Amazon.com A warm Yuletide special, A Muppet Family Christmas pairs the Muppet gang with the perennial favorite Sesame Street cast for a holiday celebration. With a blizzard brewing outside, Fozzie's childhood farmhouse on Christmas Eve becomes the backdrop for a medley of holiday tunes--eight in all--ranging from the Muppet band's rousing "Jingle Bell Rock" to Big Bird's sweet rendition of "The Christmas Song." Though the script meanders in part, the 42-minute program shines as a musical revue, seasoned with quick-witted interludes by the culinary comedic Swedish Chef, slapstick odd couple Ernie and Bert, and the diva-like escapades of Miss Piggy. While lacking the irresistible sizzle of The Muppet Movie, the show's finale, which includes Kermit and Piggy under the mistletoe and a cameo appearance by Jim Henson, proves that nothing can dim the Muppets' appeal. --Lynn Gibson

MUPPET FAMILY CHRISTMAS, VHS November 2, 2008 J. E. Fisher (Fla, USA) This is one of the best, if not the best videos that the late, great Jim Henson produced prior to his untimely death. I resell a lot of the children's videos that I purchase on line, at private sales and from my own distributors, and this one literally flys off my auction site as soon as I list one. This is an out of print video, so its not very easy to find copies of same.Of course, as with most of Henson's videos, violence is not present, the majority of his videos are all feel good ones and they are absolutely great for the young children.
There's hope out there!! October 15, 2008 Kat (Arkansas) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Like everyone else, I've been searching for this show on DVD for YEARS! It was a favorite of mine when I was little. We had it on VHS, but sometime between me moving out and my brother, it got lost. As much as I loved this, I wasn't going to spend 200 bucks for it. However, I found a website that tracks down old, hard to find DVDs and sells them for an appropriate price. Lo and behold, they had a copy for $18 plus $4 shipping!! I bought it and just got it in the mail today and I've already watched it. It's a two disk set. The first disc is the remastered, yet chopped up version and the second disc was the original, televised broadcast! The quality wasn't the best in the world....you can tell it was recorded off of a beta or VHS, but it's still completely watchable if you don't mind the occasional glitches (hey, after 20+ years, my VHS was in worse shape than this). So there's hope out there! Here's the link....hopefully, they'll have more for all those out there still looking for a copy....
