Amazon.com Product Description Want to give your child a little off-road entertainment? Turn to the Razor dune buggy, the ultimate in electric-powered backcountry cruising. Outfitted with a powerful 350-watt motor designed to reach speeds of up to 10 miles per hour, the buggy is fast enough for serious fun, but slow enough that it won't compromise your child's safety. Parents will also appreciate the side roll cage, which creates a barrier between the rider and the outside, and the padded bucket seat, which includes a seatbelt for added security. And thanks to the buggy's specially designed reduction drive, the vehicle is capable of both lower torque climbing and high torque gearing. Perhaps the coolest feature, however, is the fully electric design, which is not only easy to charge, but requires no fuel at all, runs quietly, and produces no emissions. Other details include eight-inch knobby pneumatic tires, an active rear suspension, a durable tubular steel frame with diamond-plate floorboards, hand throttle and brake controls, a rear disc brake, and a safety flag. Ideal for difficult tracks and terrain, the buggy supports up to 120 pounds of weight and is suitable for ages 8 and older. Key Features: - For ages 8+

Awesome dune buggy October 17, 2008 Craig T. Jarboe (l'VILLE, KY) My sons got this for his 7th birthday. He LOVES it!!! The best part for mom and dad is that it is totally ready to go as soon as you pull it out of the box. Would recommend this to any kid that loves to zoom. The speed is just enough for a thrill.
My 8 & 9 year olds love this! September 28, 2008 M. Cecil (Great Falls, VA USA) I got this buggy as a joint birthday present for my 8 & 9 year girls who asked for something "cool." I was looking for something that would appeal to their ages. As noted in another review, it came fully assembled and already charged up, so they got to race around on it immediately. It has been a big hit with both of them as well as several of the neighbor kids. It goes just fast enough to make them feel like they're driving, but not so fast that I worry for their safety. I only wish it had a "reverse" mode.
Super fun and a great value September 21, 2008 S. Simpson (Portland, Oregon) We purchased this for our son who just turned 6. He's been used to riding a powerwheels jeep but I felt that the jeep was too slow for him (and his 8yr old sister). He loves this dune buggy and we're all very happy with it. We own quite a bit of land around our house so he tends to ride it down the long asphalt driveway and then onto a large patch of grass. So far this is working well. The dune buggy doesn't seem to slow down when going on the grass.
It's a good value for your money and it does what it says it will do. It charges fairly quickly and it holds a charge for atleast 45-1hr. The tires do well on the grass surface and I must add that they keep it on fairly level ground.
I don't think you will be sorry you purchased this item. It's not too much for a 6 year old to handle nor is it too slow and hard to maneuver. Yes, it has a hand brake but when they take their finger off the throttle it slows down rather quickly. The brake takes some time getting used to for a 6yr old. But they learn these things quickly.
Terrific value for your money September 14, 2008 K. L. Perron (Indian Hill, OH) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
My sons, ages 7 and 8, absolutely love this thing.
The Razor Dune Buggy is battery powered and charges up fairly quickly. I also was very pleased that it's not too fast; my sons actually go much faster on their bicycles and I think the Dune Buggy is easy to keep up with as a parent at a slow jog. The low center of gravity helps keep all four wheels on the ground at all times (read: they've never been able to flip it). :)
Drawbacks are minor, but important to note. The motor does produce an audible sound yet it cannot be heard from within a car. It is so low to the ground that cars will have difficulty seeing it, so to solve this it comes with a tall flag that installs on the back of the Dune Buggy.
You should also consider that the accelerator is not a pedal, it is actually a thumb lever on the steering wheel, so it is important that your child can manipulate a hand brake and a hand accelerator at the same time. I will say that all the kids on my street who have ridden it (between 6-9 yrs. of age) got the hang of it fairly quickly.
It has no key. There's a power switch on the back that the kids can flip on at anytime, so if you want to lock it down, you'll have to manually disconnect the battery cable (very easy to do).
Finally although it is called a "dune buggy", it is best suited for sidewalks and roads. The kart struggles to move up any incline on grass (it's obviously not AWD) and the narrow tires destroyed my new lawn quite nicely lol. Hard-packed dry dirt would be ideal terrain for this kart.
The best part was purchasing this on Amazon.com. The kart arrived in one big box, entirely pre-assembled, and the battery was pre-charged. I literally signed for the package and the kids were driving it in less than five minutes.
If your kids are a bit older and have the need for speed, this isn't your kart, yet if you want something for younger kids that is relatively safe, eco-friendly, and reliable, the Razor Dune Buggy is highly recommended.
This is an awesome product! August 13, 2008 Norman Bander Listen up folks -- this is an amazing dune buggy! I was delighted to watch my 5-year old on this thing. I purchased this product on Thursday, it was delivered by the next Monday. I pulled it out of the box and plugged it in.
Follow the directions on the special insert. Initial charge should be between 18 - 24 hours. Thereafter, each charge should be 12 hours.
My son, complete with a huge grin, rode this on the grass in a big field for 1/2 hour. Then we went to pavement for an entire hour! I still don't understand how we squeezed out 1 1/2 hours of fun on one battery charge.
It goes the PERFECT SPEED for my son. Fast enough for fun and challenge, but not too fast as to be seriously dangerous.
Everyone in the park was watching him. Numerous adults were staring, no kidding, with mouths gaping open. "Where'd you get that!?" "Where'd you get that?!" "Does that thing run on battery? Does it ever need recharging?" And no -- I don't work for the Razor company.
My son is 5, so parental supervision is CRITICAL!!! I ride next to him on an adult scooter, telling him to stop, go or steer clear of the little toddler. If he doesn't listen, he doesn't ride. Don't go anywhere near traffic! Watch out for pedestrians -- your son can and will crash into them. Nothing happened, but only because I was never more than 3 seconds away from my son, but I was struck by how easily he could have hurt somebody. Don't underestimate a 5-year old's selective hearing and lack of coordination (the recommended age is 8 - up for a reason).
That being said, I still think this is the biggest blast! It is everything I wanted for my son and more!
