The perfect product for the task January 8, 2009

After doing a fair amount of research and reading the reviews I chose this Apex dumbbell rack for my home gym and am not disappointed. It is rock solid, functionally built, and fits in nicely. For some reason the instructions say to use 2 adjustable wrenches, when all you really need is one socket wrench and it easily assembles in about 15 minutes. That 15 minutes though does not count the 30 minutes it took me to go to Lowes to replace 3 missing screws and 2 washers. The box had a sizeable hole ripped open in it upon arrival and on top of that most of the screws and nuts and washers that were there were loose, so obviously some fell out in transit. I was surprised I wasn't missing more. Considering that I only paid $89 on Amazon for it with free shipping, I can deal with the missing parts. It's hard to believe that such a well made product can be so poorly packaged though, but if you can make it beyond that then this is a great dumbbell rack.

The Apex 3-tier dumbbell rack was ordered on 12/11/08 and received at my home on 12/15, pretty good for free shipping. HOWEVER, the shipment arrived with the box literally open and parts laying on the ground at my front door where FedEX dropped it off. This product weighs 56 lbs and only shipping tape was used to seal the box. FedEx should require the supplier to use nylon straps to hold the box together. Luckily, no parts where lost. I found a few minor scratches, as well, but that's fine with me given the forthcoming scratches I will give it when using it. Assembly required 20 minutes with a single socket wrench. It's very solid and ergonomical well designed. The rubber footings add a nice touch for stability. I loaded it with 8 pairs of hexagon dumbbells (5 to 40 lbs). It does not sway when loading or unloading dumbbells. The 5 lb dumbbells do not rest properly on the rack, but all others are fine. I still have room for 2 more pairs of small (less than 40lbs ) dumbells. I recommend this product, minus the lousy shipment experience.

Excellent engineering, Everything you need in a D.B. rack, Easy assembly, excellent price, holds two sets of dumbbells from 5 to 50 pounds, very sturdy, takes up a small space, and mine was even shipped for free in les than 24 hours. Could you ask for more? I don't think so. This is an excellent buy. Go for it!

Just received and setup the apex 3 tier rack. It is a great rack for money, space saving, easy to setup and very sturdy if you follow the simple instructions. Ordered it on Tuesday it arrived on Thursday. Holds hex weights from 8lbs to 40lbs, 10 pairs total. Perfect fit.

I was very pleased with this product. The delivery was lightening speed and the price was excellent. It doesn't hold my smaller weights but they are not the hexagon style so if you're purchasing weights, buy that style. Very pleased and it looks great.
