Product Description Match wits with the elusive Carmen Sandiego as you recover the stolen treasures of knowledge! This time she's run off with a rare and valuable edition of the "Travels of Marco Polo." Worth millions! Includes challenging world missions, multiple puzzles and mind teasers, and much more!
Amazon.com Review Blend capitals with crime, and you've got the magic combination that makes geography cool. With its irreverent style, Where in the World Is Carmen Sandiego? is definitely a winner for the junior-high set. Each story begins with a dispatched message from the Chief. In her typical, no-nonsense style, she tells you what you need to know: what was stolen, whom to look for, and where you're being sent to catch the thief. Kids will love the real-time video of the Chief's updates, as well as the cartoon-character types they meet along the way. The immediate purpose is to build a profile of the criminal, but the larger object is to learn the history of your destination spots. The Carmen series has nice touches: the Chief urges rookie investigators to learn a little bit of the language, because "It always helps you do better." There are questions to answer, and at each new destination, the announcement information comes through in the appropriate local language--with a "debabilizer" that prints the message in English. If you get stuck at any point, you can request a guide who will give you a tour of your new land. A truly fun game that teaches kids the quirky and astounding elements of each culture they'll visit, Where in the World Is Carmen Sandiego? has a great deal to offer kids as they explore the cultures provided. --Jennifer Buckendorff
Amazon.com Product Description Discover the world in a thrilling crime-stopping chase. The world has lost all the salt from the Dead Sea, the gargoyles from Notre Dame, even the steps to the Tango. As a detective, your job is to interrogate informants, track clues with your electronic notepad, and arrest the thief before the battery meter runs out.

Carmen Sandiego December 15, 2008 MysterySolver 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I loved this game when I was younger! Even to this day I still remember: "Agent Shadow Hawkins reporting, Chief. I'm in. No sign of intruders. Search plan delta delta two. Jules, how did you!!...""I took the elevator." Sadly, I can't remember the rest except for "ten o'clock! red hat!" and "I know you, and you're no simple criminal. Why are you doing this?" and lastly, "Catch me if you can, ACME agents! Hahahahaha!" This was the best game ever! So, I would DEFINITELY recommend it to anyone. Also, if you are a fan of this game, I would recommend the Nancy Drew PC series from HER Interactive. It's pretty similar, but the next level and they still release new ones twice a year.

I'm the guy who talked about the throwing knife thing. Here, I copied this from a site, Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego? ...and where has her gang of thieves taken the loot? You're the detective tracking down culprits in this globe-hopping mystery action game. And as you work your way up the five challenge levels from Rookie to Ace Detective, the mysteries get more complicated and your suspect and his henchmen become more aggressive, firing bullets and throwing knives you must duck on-screen. In each case, one of 10 elusive villains has stolen one of 90 national treasures and absconded to one of 30 foreign cities. Chase your suspect around the world, racing the clock and making crucial decisions: What city did he go to? Where will you investigate, the Embassy or the Warehouse? Collect pertinent facts from the special Almanac, and travel the globe until you've got the goods on your crook. When you know whodunit, visit Interpol and bring your suspect to justice!

Just like when we were kids June 20, 2008 G. Varnadore (Decatur, TX) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This game is educational and fun. We have a 6yr old boy who loves this. He is learning to put the case together to find Carmen. It, however, does not work on our Windows XP but does work on our MacBook.
