I've been happy using one small packet each 2 weeks in my filter to keep nitrates under control in a 29gal freshwater tank. Tank is heavily planted with schools of tetras. I have had ongoing algae problems and this helps considerably. The small packets are easy to get into my filter and don't break open. I like 'em.
