Great little machine November 19, 2008 Brett J. Peterson (San Jose, CA) If you are looking for a netbook with a 6-cell battery, huge hard drive and has the added benefit of looking great too, I would highly recommend the Acer Aspire One. I bought this for my wife and she loves it! The keyboard is little, but I touch type quickly so that wasn't a problem. The only things I would change is the screen (just a tad too small. If you feel this might be the case with you as well, try the MSI Wind) and the trackpad(doesn't really grip well, buttons are in an odd place making me use 2 hands). Seriously, a great, uber-portable computer!
Exceeds Expectations November 19, 2008 Craig Fuller (McLean, VA USA) I thought a smaller laptop would be more convenient...this one is that and more. It is fast, had the software I needed and works better than my larger models. And, it runs for hours...no problem on long flights! I also like the case which easily fits in my carry on roller bag.
Choose BuyNow, NOT ANTOnline!! November 19, 2008 L. Coffelt (Virginia Beach, VA) 0 out of 6 found this review helpful
This has the makings of a nightmare, but I'm going to give everybody some time and the benefit of the doubt. I ordered the Acer Aspire One through Amazon this afternoon. The vendor was ANTOnline. By this evening, I received an e-mail from ANTOline saying they were unable to deliver to the address entered at order placement. ???!!! No other information except to say they had instructed Amazon to cancel my order. They couldn't deliver???? The product hadn't even left the warehouse!!! I contacted Amazon, speaking to a real human being. However, the connection sounded like a bad cell phone connection, and the young woman to whom I spoke never quite got what I was trying to tell her. Long story short - when I received Amazon's e-mail informing me that part of the order had been canceled ( I also ordered the case for the mini notebook), I clicked on a link that was in the mailing and connected to the same notebook, but a different vendor (this time BuyNow Inc.), a CHEAPER PRICE, AND FREE SHIPPING, saving a total of $28.63. So. Now I know why I kept getting different prices for the same product while researching this notebook in Amazon - they went through different vendors. My advice is to NOT buy from ANTOnline. Maybe someday I'll find out why they can't deliver to Virginia, and hopefully I will have much better news when I actually receive my notebook and start using it.
Dynamite as Controller and Net Browser November 18, 2008 Hal Smith (Edmond, OK) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I bought my Aspire One to use as a dedicated industrial controller for a high-tech audio analyzer (Audio Precision ATS-2/HP running AP's custom software). It runs the software perfectly, the only glitch being one screen displays a little too large and requires a trivial workaround. I've found out it also works flawlessly tethered to my AT&T Motorola Q9h 3G smartphone. I get good results on both 3G and Edge networks, 3G obviously being faster. Battery life is good, the keyboard is large enough to touch type, the display is fairly bright on battery, etc. All in all Acer's done a really good job of implementing the Netbook idea.
just for internet use November 18, 2008 Carlos (Central America) Aspire one got a good look excellet for internet use, webcam and microfone are excelent, batery life is good, but do not use a music player and internet at the same time you will have troubles, music will start to hear weird. even with the xp it is slow. I only installed itunes, nothing else and it becomes slow.
