Does what I want it to do October 6, 2008 Blaze L. Varone (Rhode Island, USA) I bought this computer because it's cheap, small and light. I needed something portable to write class papers on. The ASUS is what I got and it does what I want it to do. I am very pleased with my purchase.
Accessory Recommendation: I recommend buying an SD card to store your files on. They are cheap, will save your memory and make transferring files easy. You can get them at almost any department store or electronics store. Amazon has very good prices on SD cards too.
Eee won't connect to Wireless October 5, 2008 S. Carithers (Georgia) I'm pretty sure mine is going back. I've been under the dreadful "pending status" now all but a few seconds. I don't have time for this type of stress. Will be shipping it back and either waiting or going with something that doesn't have these bugs.
It's small, it's fast enough and gosh, it's darn cute October 3, 2008 Richard Rabe (Belchertown, MA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I bought this little thing because I was headed to Europe for a little vacation and I had just enrolled in an online course. I wanted light weight and small and at just about 2lbs it fit very nicely in my backpack. I wanted something that started up quickly (average time so far is just 26 seconds plus another 15 to find and connect to wireless) so I was happy to have it running Linux. It really works well (so far) in fact now that I am home it sits on the kitchen counter so I can log on with my first cup of coffee and get my email.
Are there any dislikes? It does get a little warm and the keyboard is small but I don't touch type very fast anyway so no problem. I attached a mini USB mouse and that really helps as the touch pad is small too (although big enough, really). I even watched a movie I had loaded on my USB thumb drive and it was great!. So if you want a second computer to just have available whenever, its a good solution.

I had to return the first PC because it quit working. The second one had more packing material and seals. It makes me wonder if the first one was used.
Asus eee laptop September 27, 2008 Lynne Baker (Huntington Beach, CA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I find the keyboard for this computer very intractable - not to mention too small to ever use the home keys. But even after I "hunt and peck" type a line, I have to go back and fill in many letters. I thought at first it was just my problem but others who have used it say the same thing. There is an adjustment for "keypad touch" in the computer's settings but not for "keyboard touch" so I don't see a solution. There must be something wrong with my specific computer because I have not noticed anyone else mentioning it in a review; therefore, it must not be a general design flaw. I also notice that if I do not use it on AC power, the battery just drains almost immediately as I am e-mailing. Had I to do it over again, I would not purchase this computer. I got it just for e-mailing while I'm traveling but it's so time consuming because of the difficulty with the keyboard that my travel companions chose to PAY to use the computers in the lobby of the hotels rather than use mine FREE. I don't think I will take it with me again so I'm stuck with a $300 purchase that I do not want.
