| Editorial Reviews:
Product Description Spanning the 20th century, the story of Roses takes place in a small East Texas town against the backdrop of the powerful timber and cotton industries, industries controlled by the scions of the town's founding families. Cotton tycoon Mary Toliver and timber magnate Percy Warwick should have married but unwisely did not, and now must deal with the deceit, secrets, and tragedies of their choice and the loss of what might have been--not just for themselves but for their children, and children's children. With expert, unabashed, big-canvas storytelling, Roses covers a hundred years, three generations of Texans and the explosive combination of passion for work and longing for love.

An interesting tale of epic proportions September 2, 2010 Paula C. Aird Interesting love story between Mary Toliver and Percy Warwick with twist in which both of them marry other persons.
Wyatt Warwick and Matthew Dumont are in the next generation. On many levels there are parallels with the previous generation and the reader is both entertained and educated.
However in the part of the book that deals with Rachel, I'm afraid the author lost the momentum that she had thus far. Rachel and Matt have 'a thing' going on, which seems to be a repeat of the Percy/Mary drama again.
roses was great at first but got very tired by the end August 26, 2010 Darcie Nunes (Folsom, California, US) When I first started reading Roses I was so excited because I said "oh this is a good book" being a very picky book reader I LOVE a good book. It was a good book from the start but towards the end it just got bad. I had to push myself to finish it. It got like those romantic movies I hate to watch. My mother in law that loves those chick flicks I knew would love it so I gave it to her to read after me. It was a good read, a real page turner but it dissapointed me with the last chapter. Once it gets to Rachels story its just tired.
Roses August 11, 2010 Gerry Wade (TUSCALOOSA, AL, US) Roses was one of the best books I have ever read. I hated to put it down. It would run a close race with "Gone with the Wind" and "The Thornbirds" as one of the best fiction books ever written.
