Product Description
No war can last forever. Now, in the long and punishing battle between the defiant champions of the New Jedi Order and the juggernaut that is the Galactic Alliance, the endgame is finally at hand. With so much lost–and nothing less than the course of the future still at stake–there can be no turning back. No matter the consequences.

The rebel cause is losing ground under the twin blows of Admiral Gilad Pellaeon’s assassination and the death of Mara Jade Skywalker. At the same time, having gained the support of the Imperial Remnant and its ruthlessly efficient forces, the Galactic Alliance, with the extraordinary power and dark brilliance of newly ascendant Sith Lord Darth Caedus at its helm, may be unstoppable. Tormented and torn between the call of duty and the thirst for vengeance, Luke has searched the Force and beheld an unspeakable vision of the galaxy enslaved under tyranny more monstrous than even Palpatine’s. Now it seems that the last, best hope lies in mobilizing the scattered Jedi for one decisive search-and-destroy mission. The objective: eliminate Darth Caedus.

It’s a plan that will be as difficult and dangerous to execute as it is daring. For Caedus is a scion of both the Skywalker and Solo bloodlines whose command of the Force surpasses even that of his grandfather

Darth Vader. There is only one who is bound by destiny to stand against him in what will surely be a duel to the death, only one with an outside chance of bringing down the dark lord who was once Jacen Solo.

Failure is not an option. The furious final moments between power and peace are here, and whoever confronts Darth Caedus will decide the outcome–and the fate of those left standing.

2 out of 5 stars Disappointing end to a good series   October 6, 2008

The duel we were all anticipating and expecting in this series finale was anticlimactic . It didn't possess much of the anticipated psychologically and emotional fighting that you'd expect of a Jedi Vs Sith battle that involves siblings.

The series overall I thought was a wonderful idea and was mostly good (aside from all the Mandolorian stuff we were subjected to) but the ending left a lot to be desired.

1 out of 5 stars Don't buy this book, buy Star Wars: The Force Unleashed!   October 6, 2008

****SPOILER WARNING*****I am really disappointed that Troy Denning got to write the final book, my favorite was always Karen Anderson. She could actually write a page without horrible jokes, unlike Mr. Denning. This series had so much potential, but all of it was wasted. Page after page the series talks about morale and poitics and bending the law. Darth Vader would have just bombed the senate and moved on. No, Caedus had to play nice, his only stress relief being breaking peoples necks. In this book I skipped right to the end were Jaina slaughtered him. Mr. Denning formed the picture in my mind that she was a little crazy, mostly because even when he turned off his light saber she still attacked him, and because when he said "Look, I'm just trying to save my wife and kid," she didn't believe him. The thought of reading all the way through this book bored me. Go now, and buy Star Wars the Force Unleashed for Xbox 360.

5 out of 5 stars One long, delicious amusement park ride   September 27, 2008
Nina M. Osier (Augusta, ME USA)
Jacen Solo, son of Princess Leia and Han Solo, has become Darth Caedus - Sith Master. Harnessing the Force's dark side with phenomenal abilities, he strives to unite the galaxy under his rule. He believes that creating this reincarnated empire will bring peace, so children like his own small daughter can grow up in a safety his generation has never known. Not that he can openly acknowledge Allana; to do so would doom her, something her mother (a Jedi knight and reigning queen) also knows.

Jacen's twin sister, Jaina, holds out a stubborn hope for his redemption even as she trains to kill him. Luke Skywalker prophesied that Jaina would become the Sword of the Jedi, on the day he made her a knight; and that means she's the only person besides Luke himself who may be able to bring Darth Caedus down. Luke cannot take on the task himself because he knows it would turn him to the dark side. Darth Caedus murdered Luke's wife, and executing his nephew without enjoying his vengeance is more than even Master Skywalker can manage.

This book is one long, delicious amusement park ride. The author has the characters nailed, and that makes the moments when Luke, Leia and Han are "on stage" a delight. Of course this is where the future would take them! As for the Solo offspring, and Luke's only child, Ben - just right, too. Never mind about continuity with the prequel movies. Whoever decided to keep going with the Star Wars "futureverse" as postulated in the novels made the right decision.

1 out of 5 stars Troy Denning has gone to the Dark side   September 26, 2008
Super Hero Novel Fan
Lazy writing. Didn't tie up tons of loose plot points. Too short. What happened Troy, gave up on writing Star Wars books? You won't be writing another one, so you flipped them a bird by writing this craptastic book. What happened to Corellia, Niathal, and a million other people who should have been involved. Total anti-climactic. A shame that this was book 9 of 9. It was the worst book in the series. Why didn't Jaina say something about Mara to Jacen at the end? Like 'you scum, you killed aunt mara'. You have made the Jedi look like a bunch of panty-waists who sit on the sidelines all the time. It used to be cool to be a jedi, now it's not. Darth Bane books are much better than this craptacular stuff.

4 out of 5 stars Fairly well done final book in series   September 7, 2008

This is the final book in the "Legacy" series. Over all I enjoyed this group of books including the final installment. The final battle between the twins was well written and the family emotions were woven in tastefully. It will be interesting to see where we go from here.
