Product Description

The Wallflowers are four young ladies in London who banded together in their wild and wickedly wonderful searches for true love. Now happily married, they join together once again to help one of the world’s most notorious rogues realize that happiness might be right under the mistletoe.…

It’s Christmastime in London and Rafe Bowman has arrived from America for his arranged meeting with Natalie Blandford, the very proper and beautiful daughter of Lady and Lord Blandford. His chiseled good looks and imposing physique are sure to impress the lady in waiting and, if it weren’t for his shocking American ways and wild reputation, her hand would already be guaranteed. Before the courtship can begin, Rafe realizes he must learn the rules of London society. But when four former Wallflowers try their hand at matchmaking, no one knows what will happen. And winning a bride turns out to be more complicated than Rafe Bowman anticipated, especially for a man accustomed to getting anything he wants. However, Christmas works in the most unexpected ways, changing a cynic to a romantic and inspiring passion in the most timid of hearts.

A Wallflower Christmas takes a trip to Victorian London, under the mistletoe, and on a journey of the heart. With her trademark charm, sensuality, and unforgettable characters, there’s no one like Lisa Kleypas to make you believe in the magic of Christmas.

4 out of 5 stars good but not great   December 28, 2008
Romancer (Kennebunkport, MA)
Lisa Kleypas's Christmas story for Wallflowers is good, and nice if you've read the series, but not a must-have. It's got a satisfying love story in it, but one that occupies only a small portion of the (as it is scanty) real estate.

I'm torn on reviewing this--I really did like the Wallflowers series, and this did seem like a nice add-on, but I'm not sure the hardcover price would be worth it, and I definitely don't think it would be if you haven't read all of the Wallflower series yet.

I still recommend this for everyone who's eagerly awaited the next Lisa Kleypas. Lisa Kleypas at her most middling is a far cry better than many other authors on their best days.

4 out of 5 stars Really Good, but I Want More!!   December 27, 2008
Sophie (OH, USA)
I was given this novel as a gift for Christmas and I was delighted! I started reading the book at 10pm, I couldn't for one minute put it down and continue to read through until the wee hours of the morning. Yes, I finished the book in 10 hours! It was very short and I wish we got more insight into the main characters! I felt it was rushed at the end. I would have given this book 5 stars, except for the fact that I was left with wanting more! I hate feeling unsatisfied!

4 out of 5 stars Fun, romantic story for a first-time Kleypas reader   December 24, 2008
M. Snider (Maryland)
A fast, fun journey through ninteenth-century London with a group of family, friends and would-be lovers. In this sequel to Lisa Kleypas's Wallflowers series, sisters Lillian and Daisy are happily settled into married life in England and have turned their sights to helping their older brother Rafe find a wife. Thomas Bowman, head of the family, has decided upon a "suitable" wife for his son -- blond, blue-blooded Natalie -- but hasn't bargained on what will happen when Rafe's intrigue is piqued not by Natalie but by her plainer, outspoken lady chaperone Hannah.

I've never read anything by Kleypas and had no idea this book was part of a series when I borrowed it from my sister. So reading it as a stand-alone, I could tell there were plenty of references to earlier works I wasn't quite getting, but had absolutely no trouble following the plotline. The prologue at the beginning was really helpful in getting all the characters straight in my mind! I loved Rafe as a character -- I always have a soft spot for the "rakish" yet surprisingly vulnerable guys.

Kleypas's dialogue was funny and believable, and I really loved reading about the Christmas preparations and the overall silliness of the "upper class." At a little more than 200 pages, you can easily get through this one in a day -- and you'll probably enjoy it all the way through. The ending felt a bit "tidy," but it didn't bother me too much -- I'm also a sucker for happy endings!

4 out of 5 stars I NEEDED A WALLFLOWER FIX   December 20, 2008

Have enjoyed the Wallflower series so much, I hate to see it end. Of course my favorites were Marcus and Sebastian. They were there but I could have read more of them.

Rafe and Hannah's story was very good, but I couldnt wait for Marcus and Lillian to come into the pictue. It was so funny reading Lillian's jealousy of Marcus and the woman Lillian keeps seeing him talking to. After all the jabs she made at him in "It happened one Autumn", he finally gets his revenge. What a good one it is too.

Of course, Sebastian's part would be decadent but Evie can and loves handling it.

Barely noticed Simon Hunt's exit and entrances. But this was a joyful read for the Holidays. I am a big Kleypas fan.

4 out of 5 stars A Sexy Victorian Christmas Tale   December 17, 2008
Lesa Holstine (Glendale, AZ)
If you're expecting Georgette Heyer's Victorian romances, forget it. Lisa Kleypas' romances are not as finely detailed as Heyer's, but they have much more spice.

When Rafe Bowman arrived in England, he expected to marry Lady Natalie Blandford, adding to his American family's prestige. But, before he could meet Lady Natalie, he fell for her companion, Hannah Appleton. And, when a rake falls in love, he falls hard. He's not at all what Hannah expected, but she knows he isn't the right husband for Lady Natalie. But, why would a rich American want to marry a poor lady's companion?

Fans of Kleypas' Wallflower series will welcome this special Christmas story, about an honorary wallflower who tames a rake.
