Product Description
Keller's a hit man. For years now he's had places to go and people to kill. But enough is enough. He's got money in the bank and just one last job standing between him and retirement. So he carries it out with his usual professionalism, and he heads home, and guess what? One more job. Paid in advance, so what's he going to do? Give the money back? In Des Moines, Keller stalks his designated target and waits for the client to give him the go-ahead. And one fine morning he's picking out stamps for his collection (Sweden 1-5, the official reprints) at a shop in Urbandale when somebody guns down the charismatic governor of Ohio. Back at his motel, Keller's watching TV when they show the killer's face. And there's something all too familiar about that face. . . . Keller calls his associate Dot in White Plains, but there is no answer. He's stranded halfway across the country, every cop in America's just seen his picture, his ID and credit cards are no longer good, and he just spent almost all of his cash on the stamps. Now what?

Another Excellent Keller Novel By The Master November 29, 2008 South Side Irish (Chicago) Lawrence Block has written another excellent Keller novel. If you read and liked the first three Keller novels in the series than you will enjoy this one as well. If you haven't read the other Keller novels, you may want to start at the begining with Hitman, although you could read this as a stand alone book.
This novel has some interesting twists and turns, so I don't give away part of the book I won't mention details but can say that the reading will be familiar to Keller/Block fans without being a copy of the first three novels. New ground is covered and Lawrence Block has given us fresh material.
DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME November 15, 2008 M. May (Boston MA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The only thing that kept me reading this book was to see if it actually got better. It didn't. Even in the last chapter, I'm thinking there must be some major twist to make this book some what interesting. Again, there was not. Be warned this book is slow and uninteresting.
A slow death for John Keller October 5, 2008 dementos Lawrence Block is one of my favorite writers. And I greatly enjoyed his previous John Keller stories and books. For instance, I have read "Hit Man" twice already. And I will read it again. Block's latest Keller novel, "Hit and Run", however, has been a huge disappointment for me. It's very slow, overlong, and somewhat repetitive. A few years back, Block would have wrapped exactly the same plot into a sharp, witty short story. In fact, that's what it seems to me: An average short story blown up to novel size. I'd say Block was right when he said that he may be "turning into a wordy old bastard" (Lawrence Block, foreword of "Enough Rope").
Who would like "Hit and Run"? I'll tell you... October 4, 2008 Frank J. Derfler (Islamorada, FL United States) Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R1XBW6P4DPB0P4 Would you like Lawrence Block's Hit and Run? Would it make a good gift? In this video review I do not give away the story, but I do tell you who would like this book. Frank Derfler, author of "A Glint in Time"
The latest in a nice series October 4, 2008 Thomas M. Reilly The second " Keller " novel I've read; looking forward to completing the series. Keller is an interesting hit man who is resourceful and likable even though his profession is killing people. Nice resolution to this novel; interesting minor characters. Very readable.
